Bob Trewartha, business and accounting program chair

Tell me about yourself

Born in Minnesota, I moved here to beautiful Utah around five years ago. I loved going to school so much, I decided to become an educator. I received a Master’s in Public and Nonprofit Administration and have been teaching, doing public relations and program administration for 17 years here at Broadview and our sister schools back in Minnesota.

Why is it important to get to know your program chair?

It is my goal as program chair of the business and accounting programs to assist you in selecting courses, give you the support to be successful in class and gain the skills to find career employment. Those are all reasons to get to know me, but I also really enjoy learning from you what you think of our programs and school so we can continue to improve our service to our students.

What advice to you have for students as they prepare to go to school?

What is your goal? Do you want to make friends, learn about the world, or get into a specific career? You can do all that at Broadview, but you should always keep your focus on the goal. If you want to find a career, you are in the right place.

Why choose Broadview’s business and accounting program?

At Broadview, we focus everything we do, from curriculum development to career placement, on helping you gain the skills necessary to find employment in the career field of your choice.

What will students learn in the business and accounting programs?

I always tell my students at Broadview that you do not simply learn the terms (marketing segmentation, for example), but rather how to “apply” those concepts with strategic business skills. That is what our program advisory boards and employers have asked for, and those are the skills you will have when you graduate.

What are your hobbies?

I love to travel. We have a place in Florida where my wife and I will someday retire. I keep busy with a variety of projects, including a new cable/web show I host, brewing beer and watching NFL football!
